In 1962 the first House of Bagels store opened in San Francisco, California, by Sid Chassy. Native New Yorker, who grew up in a family full of bakers, Sid knew the west coast would fall in love with their family's recipe.
Years later, Sid's sons expanded the business and opened many of House of Bagels throughout the Peninsula and South Bay. Today, all of the stores are franchised and owned by local Bay Area families. Larry, Sid's youngest, and President of our company, manages our wholesale manufacturing factory.
Here at the headquarters and manufacturing plant, the focus is on the wholesale aspect and sticking to our founder's original philosophy, of providing the best New York Bagels, both throughout our retail franchise locations and with all other customers. Although our business has changed and grown extensively over the last 60 years, our values remain the same.
We take pride in being the original New York bagels, in the Bay Area, and we are still the best!
